• Version 8 is out and we have a focus on royalties this month. The big one is royalty reminders, but we also have improvements to the royalty upload flow and better royalty reports. We’ve also improved our publisher directory with additional filters.

    Royalty Reminders

You can define any number of reminders, you can set the start date, frequency (monthly, quarterly, twice yearly and yearly) and you can then link the associated publishers and games. Then when it comes due, at your preferred email time, we’ll send you an email reminder and a push notification.

    Royalty Reminder setup

Royalty Reminders is a premium feature available on both mobile and web.

    Other Royalty Enhancements

While we put the royalty reminders in, we have improved royalties overall for everyone. Now, when adding a royalty reminder you can upload a royalty statement in flow (optional of course). We also have improved reports letting you filter on royalties missing key data (no publisher, no contract, no units etc).

We introduced the concept of an edition or release and you can link those to your royalties. The editions you do put in will show in your published games view showing each game and edition sorted by release date.

Finally we put in a new metric which is royalties per unit. You can see this when looking at all royalties, by game, by publisher and by year.

The improved royalty features are a part of the forever free version of pitch2table available to everyone on mobile and web.

    Improved publisher directory

The publisher directory now includes a new set of filters such as by geographic region (where known), your prior contact and whether the publisher is looking for submissions, defunct, stale, etc. we also show warnings in the publisher list and on the publisher page.

    Publisher warnings
Stale publishers are not confirmed to be out of business, it’s just been a while since they released a title. Please check the websites for all publishers before pitching.

The publisher info and publisher interest in game screens now shows additional information like country and timezone, the latter converted to your current timezone so you can know whether right now is a good time to reach out.

    Publisher information
Publisher business hours are estimated. Still send that message but don’t expect a response outside of business hours.

Some publisher filters and warnings are available under the premium version while the rest and timezone information is available on our forever free version available for everyone. All are available on mobile or web.

    Other enhancements and fixes

We didn’t stop there, we also tied up other things we missed or were asked to improve.

    • Don’t show tasks from archived games in the task list.
    • Automated file names now respect locale of viewer.
    • Message board topics now have previews like you would expect in a mail client.
    • You can now delete files you’ve uploaded.
    • All file uploads have a progress indicator and keep the screen on to reduce the chance of stalled uploads.
    • We’ve fixed a few places where numbers were being displayed without locale formatting.

  • Who doesn’t love a Spotify-style wrapped end of year review. Even the app I use for my shared shopping list does it. I bought apples more than anything else.

What is important as designers we look back at our year and everything we’ve achieved no matter how small the steps were. Every action is a step on the path to signed games. The pitch2table year in review is available in our mobile app (it’s free), there should be a banner on the front page (if you used the app enough).

Version 7 also brings along some new quality of life changes:

    What’s new in Version 7

    • Re-order tasks and see your next most important task separated from the pack. Do this one first.
    • There is a new tasks tab which shows you the top task from each game you’re working on. A quick way to see what’s the next most important thing to work on.
    • We’ve streamlined the ways you add play tests, awards, rules, sell sheets, topics, royalties, conventions, editions and external links. We’ve pulled them all into one place so you can get to where you’re going quicker. This also helps make the game screen less cluttered as we won’t show most sections that are yet. to have content. To get started tap the + buttons on the game page.
    • Adding a royalty now defaults to our preferred currency. We also show the royalty date in the royalty list views.
    • Improved published filtering. This is the foundation work for a new publisher directory in 2026. Generally speaking, filtering is improved in the app with additive filters and long press to set an exclusive filter.
    • Inviting co-designers now remembers people you’ve worked with in the past. Serial co-designers we got you!
    • You can link games together to let you jump from expansion to the base game.
    • You can see the BGG stats for your published games. Drop the BGG url in and we’ll fetch the rank for you. It’s nice to watch that number slowly go down.
    • Signed and published games are now sorted by release date. There is now a neat little view of when each of your games came out and spot and a section to spot games with no-release date. Time to ask that publisher for an estimated release date…

And that list does not include the little fixes and performance improvements we’ve made along the way.

    What’s Next?

That is the last planned release of pitch2table for 2025, we’re really proud of all the updates we’ve brought this year. It’s a huge list and I won’t recap it here, you can pop into the app and in the account menu there is an updates section. It scrolls for ages. Next for us is nice break and when we come back we’re hoping to be there with you in 2026 as you test, pitch, get those games signed and for some of you getting to see the final product on the table. Such a great feeling when it happens.

Everything above is available for all users of pitch2table.

  • On October 10, 2023 we pushed the first version of pitch2table to production. Pitch2table has come along way since that first release and today we announce new features like sessions that take it further still.

We thought of going live with this on October 10. 2025 but held off with Devcon and PAX in Australia and then Essen. It’s better to wait and not disrupt designers who need pitch2table working during pitch opportunities.

So with version 6 we announce the following:

    • Planned pitch, play test, demo and talk sessions
    • Calendar integration
    • Travel mode
    • Quick royalty add & unpaid royalties report
    • And heaps of little improvements

    Sessions

This is the big new feature. You can now record your planned sessions with publishers whether it’s a pitch, a demo at a stand or a play test. You can link sessions to conventions as well. In summary you can create a session that says:

    • I’m pitching Game 1, 2 and 3 to Asmodee at Essen
    • I’m pitching Game 1 to twelve different publishes during Unpub Speed Pitching
    • I’m running a demo at the TGDA booth from 2-4pm
    • I’m giving a talk on play testing, etc
    • I have a play test organised for 11am

Why this is useful. In our experiences working with publishers, not all of these types of activities come with invites. Most pitches with publishers come with an invite, but a demo slot is likely a spreadsheet somewhere.

The organised designer can make their own invites in whatever calendar system you use. With pitch2table you can create those sessions and associate with the games, publishers and event you’ve linked it to.

Those sessions will then appear on your dashboard as they approach and you’ll get a reminder notification on the day.

Add session modal with option for linking to an event as well as multiple games and publishers.
    Adding a session

You can create sessions directly from events, games or publishers. Each session supports multiple publishers and games.

Sessions is available for all users on mobile and web.

    Calendar Integration

With calendar integration you subscribe to a personalised calendar feed that updates automatically based on what you have setup in pitch2table.

    We have support for:

    • Events – Events run from start to finish in the time zone of the event so you know exactly when it starts and when it finishes in your home timezone.
    • Sessions – each session is also shown in the correct timezone

In the screenshot below, the designer had multiple demos, play tests and talks organised over 3 different events in a single extended weekend.

Apple calendar integration showing data from pitch2table.
Calendar integration handling your calendar invites even when you don’t have them

Calendar Integration is part of our new premium tier and is supports mail clients that can subscribe to ICS files like Apple Mail and Gmail.

    Travel Mode

Some designers are fortunate enough to be able to travel to conventions and pitch their games in person. Or, for one of our team recently, was travelling in Japan when the Pegasus Spiele designer days were on. Often, you’ll be planning these pitches in advance and when you land you may find you’ve got to unpick your home timezone, from the publisher timezone and your current timezone.

    Enable travel mode modal
    Enable travel mode

Travel mode is here to help with that. When we detect your mobile device has changed timezones we ask if you’re travelling and you can choose to set it. We’ll ask you again when you change locations or return home.

When active, travel mode shows session times in up to three timezones. The timezone of the event, your home timezone and the timezone of where you are now.

Session times shown in multiple timezones.
    Travel mode time display

You’ll note in the event above the Timezone for the event is different to when. This is because today Berlin is not in daylight savings but when the session was on it was. We handle all that for you.

Travel Mode will be a part of our new premium tier. Travel mode is only available on mobile.

    Royalty Enhancements

We’ve improved our royalty flows. You can now add a royalty from most royalty screens in the app and it’ll pick up as much context as it can and will pre-fill it. We’ve also added an unpaid royalties report to help give you quick list of who to follow up with.

Royalty reports including unpaid royalties report.

Royalty enhancements are available to all users on mobile and on web.

  • Today we pushed out the latest version of pitch2table web bringing in contract deletion and the recycling bin and support for royalty statements.

As a philosophy we prefer to avoid destructive actions in pitch2table, this is especially true as our co-designer model means that both people have admin access to the game you’re collaborating on. Accidents happen and it’s frustrating to lose work. Because of this, we’ve avoided destructive actions preferring to use concepts like archive. The trouble with archiving is that the entries are still there and archiving quite the same metaphor as deletion.

    Introducing the Recycling Bin

We’ve settled on the model we want to go with and that will be the recycling bin. So from today, you can delete contracts and they’ll disappear from the game record. The contracts will still be available in the recycling bin lest you change your mind. We’ve not set an expiration on the recycling bin, but we will at some point, something generous like 90 days.

The recycling bin is only accessible on the web version of the platform. The mobile app has hold to delete which makes accidental deletion slightly less frequent but it’s also likely to be an infrequently used feature and we’d prefer to invest in continuing to improve the app experience.

The recycling bin lets you restore deleted documents.

    Introducing Secure Documents

That bring us to our latest addition, and that is the royalty statement or royalty receipt. With royalty events you can tie that to the contract that generated the revenue but there is nowhere to record the royalty statement or royalty receipt. Now you can!

The first change is to reclassify contracts as secure documents. All contracts on pitch2table are uploaded to a different part of the system to other uploads (like profile pictures or sell sheets) and royalty statements, because of the nature of those documents, also need to be stored more securely.

It’s in the same place it’s really just a name change with royalty statements being included with contracts. We added filters so you can jump between the two broad category of documents.

We’ve also added a way to link that royalty statement to one or more royalty events and then jump from the royalty event to the statement.

Secure documents can now be a royalty statement.

    Royalty event recap

Royalty events are where you can record revenue from your licensed games. You can record the source amount, currency and units sold and link it to a publisher, contract and royalty statement. You can also indicate whether it has been paid.

All this lets you view royalty reports by game, by publisher and by year.

Royalty statements can be linked to royalty events.

As with all web releases it’s already out there ready for you to use. Secure documents and the recycling bin are both fundamental parts of pitch2table and so are included on free plans.

  • Today we release version 5 of the pitch2table mobile app. Like every release, version 5 gives you new ways to work on your game designs when out and about.

    This release adds the following:

    • Tasks
    • Pitch Events & Competitions
    • Publisher follow up dashboard improvements
    • Play Test improvements
    • Bookmarked or starred games

    Tasks

Each game now has their own task list that you can use to focus yourself on what’s next. Don’t expect tasks to be a full scale Kanban board with assignment, due dates etc. We didn’t designed it for that. Most games on pitch2table are solo designs and, we also have reminders through publisher follow ups and conventions.

Think of tasks as the next most important thing for you to do to get a game ready for pitching. For example: testing a change to reduce upkeep or, create new cards to take to the play test on the weekend. Use tasks to focus on what’s next for your game. As people use the feature more, we’ll find more ways to integrate them tightly and help you stay focused on your goals.

Is it gonna work at all? What I think before I test any design.

    Pitch Events & Competitions

We rolled out event support a couple of months ago. Events are a way to keep track of conventions where there is an opportunity for you to play test or pitch. This release now adds pitch event and convention support.

Pitch events are great opportunities for you to get your game in front of a publisher. Competitions are amazing for feedback and getting some recognition for your design. Like conventions, you can link your games to them. This is entirely private and no-one beyond your co-designers will see. Both pitch events and competitions have submission dates and if you have a game linked. Ahead of that date we’ll send out a reminder to you, no more missing the deadline because you forgot!

Pitch events, like the recent Pegasus Spiele Designer Days are opportunities to pitch and get feedback. Now, when you link a game to a pitch event, and that event is connected to a publisher, we will automatically add that publisher to the games’ publisher shortlist.

Events with submission dates will send you a reminder if you have at least one game linked.

    Publisher Follow Up Improvements

We’ve made some improvements to follow ups with publishers. Now, on your dashboard, when a game has a follow up due, we will show you all the overdue publishers. This will help you prepare for who you need to talk to next.

With version 5, after you do talk to publishers, you can set the follow up date as you record your update. It was 3, 14 or 28 days depending on the status but now you can change it to your liking.

The follow up date is customisable now

    Play Testing Improvements

A couple of little things here, now when you’re tracking data at the game level e.g. number of rounds, there are now buttons you can press to adjust the number by one. We also fixed an issue where you couldn’t edit a play tester’s name.

    Quickly bump the round count

    Bookmarked or Starred Games

At the start of the year we added the ability to set a game as one of your 2025 goals. Most designers have used it like a bookmark to get to games their working on more quickly. So we’ve changed the icons and text to reflect that.

My curated list of games to focus on

As with any release there are a stack of minor enhancements and bug fixes.

You can find the version 5 of the pitch2table mobile app using the links below.

  • Pegasus Spiele has announced their latest designer days running September 24 to September 26. Pegasus Spiele won this years Spiel des Jahres with Bomb Busters, they won in 2023 with Dorfromantik. Based on this pattern your game could be their Spiel winner in 2027!

To better support designers we have added the event to pitch2table and made some changes for future pitch events.

Pitch2Table is the platform that helps designers get the game from pitch to the table.

    Spotlight Events

The first change is we can now spotlight events. Pitch2Table will keep an event catalogue of significant events where designers have an opportunity to pitch to publishers or get some play testing done. With events like the Pegasus Designer Days, we want every designer to be aware of the limited-time opportunity.

We will limit spotlighting events to something that is available to most designers and online pitching events are certainly that!

Spotlighted event showing the pegasus designer days details

    Shortlisting

With events in pitch2table previously you could add your game to that event. What this did was allow you to prepare for an event, get your designs ready, organise your pitch. Those events would appear on the home page as the event approached and would disappear afterwards.

With pitch events like the Pegasus Designer Days when you add your game to the event, we automatically add that publisher to your game’s shortlist. Shortlisting on pitch2table is the first step in the pitching journey. Once you’ve shortlisted a publisher you can track your pitch status, what you’ve sent them and any follow up reminders.
